How to Kill Time at Work or School
Have you ever been sitting at your desk at work or school, without much to do or interest in what you are doing, wanting to look busy, wishing the day would end sooner? Well, here is an exercise that will both kill time and help you figure out how to more efficiently kill time in the future.

Figure out approximately how many days per year you spend at work or school. Multiply that number by the number of hours you spend on an average day at work or school. Then think of something you could do everyday or every hour of everyday to kill a certain amount of time.
For Example:
180 school days, multiplied by 7 hours a day, multiplied by 5 minutes per hour on bathroom break=6,300 minutes or (6300/60) 105 hours or (105/7) 15 days less of school a year.
250 work days, multiplied by 8 hours a day, multiplied by 5 minutes per hour on bathroom break=10,000 minutes or (10000/60) 167 hours or (167/8) 21 days less of work a year.
So, as you can see, little, purposeful instances of slack can render big rewards in taking time away from work or school.
A few other examples of ways to kill time at work or school are:
10 minutes of organizing per day.
15 minutes of getting coffee, water, or snacks per day.
5 minutes exploring TheUniverseAs.com per day.
5 minutes of clipping and or filing your fingernails per day.
20 minutes of sharpening pencils per day (smile while sharpening).
10 minutes of staring at people until they look over at you per day.
10 minutes per day trying to make the perfect paper airplane.
15 minutes per day underlining funny, double entendre words in books and magazines.
20 minutes per day turning textbook pictures into humorous comics.
10 minutes per day plotting how to quit work.
Also, if you happen to be someone lucky enough to be able to discreetly take quick catnaps, you could take, say, three 10 minute catnaps a day and get away with sleeping less at night. Consequently, you’d be able to take time from work or school and use it outside of work or school.
250 work days, multiplied by 30 minutes per day catnapping=7,500 minutes or 125 hours or 15 days less of work a year.
180 school days, multiplied by 30 minutes per day catnapping=5,400 minutes or 90 hours or 13 days less of school a year.
Finally, if you have a vivid enough imagination, you could just do what I do all the time and daydream.
